RespetoCommonBorders is a community-based, non-partisan, non-profit society that coordinates international electoral observer delegations. CommonBorders provides its members with the unique opportunity to experience and learn about democratic processes and the political environment in Latin America while serving as electoral observers.

Key qualities of election observers include flexibility, curiosity, openness, enthusiasm, patience, and a willingness to learn. Each participant contributes his or her unique abilities and gifts to the delegation. Upon returning to their home communities, delegates are encouraged to share their experiences with others.
There are many opportunities for you to become involved with CommonBorders. In addition to serving as election observers, volunteers are needed to plan and support local fundraising activities and contribute to the ongoing work of the organization.

Key qualities are flexibility, curiosity, openness, enthusiasm to learn and patience. Our previous delegations have brought together, among others, a retiree from Saltspring Island, a geography student from the University of Victoria, a city councillor and provincial government employees. Each participant contributes their unique abilities and gifts, both during the election and afterward.

Delegates return to their respective communities in order to share their experiences, and a new critical awareness, of having observed the citizens of another country work towards strengthening their political institutions.
